This Privacy Policy explains what personal data WattPorch (“we”, “us”) collects when you visit wattporch.com, why we collect it, and the choices you have. WattPorch is an independent website operated from Spain, so the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) applies to how we handle personal data, wherever our readers live.

Data we collect
- Server logs: like almost every website, our hosting provider records technical data when you load a page: IP address, browser type, the page requested and the time. We use it to keep the site secure and working.
- Messages you send us: if you contact us, we receive your email address and whatever you include in the message. We use it only to reply.
- Cookies and similar technologies: see the sections below on advertising, analytics and affiliate links.
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not ask you to create an account.
Advertising (Google AdSense)
We plan to show ads served by Google AdSense. Once ads are active, Google and its partners may use cookies or similar identifiers to show ads, limit how often you see them, measure performance and, where you allow it, personalize ads based on your visits to this and other websites.
- Visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland will be asked for consent through a Google-certified consent message before personalized ads or non-essential cookies are used, and can change their choice at any time.

Analytics
If we add analytics such as Google Analytics, it will measure how pages are used (for example, pages viewed and time on page) so we can improve the site. Where the law requires consent, analytics will only run after you agree.
Affiliate links
Some links on WattPorch are affiliate links. When you click one, the retailer or affiliate network may set a cookie to record that the visit came from us, so we can be paid a commission if you buy. The retailer’s own privacy policy applies on its site. See our Affiliate Disclosure.
Legal basis (for visitors covered by GDPR)
- Legitimate interest: running and securing the website (server logs) and replying to messages.
- Consent: non-essential cookies, personalized advertising and analytics where consent is required.
How long we keep data
Server logs are kept for the limited period set by our hosting provider. Messages are kept as long as needed to handle your request. Cookie lifetimes are set by the provider that places them.
International transfers
Some providers we use, such as Google, may process data outside the European Economic Area, including in the United States. Where that happens, transfers rely on safeguards recognized under EU law, such as the EU–U.S. Data Privacy Framework or standard contractual clauses.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct or delete your personal data, to object to or restrict its processing, to data portability, and to withdraw consent at any time. If you are in the EU, you can also complain to a data protection authority; in Spain this is the Agencia Española de Protección de Datos (aepd.es). California residents and residents of other U.S. states with privacy laws may have similar rights, including the right to know what data is collected and to opt out of its sale or sharing. We do not sell personal data.
Children
WattPorch is written for adults and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
Changes
If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page.
